Our Intensive programs are an opportunity to work with amazing faculty and committed peers who motivate you to push yourself physically and creatively, while devising original work.
Summer Intensive offers a mix of conditioning and instruction while working with a cross section of Chicago’s leading circus, dance, and physical theatre instructors to expand what you’re capable of. Through this and collaborations with your fellow students, you begin the creative process of choreographing a circus movement piece to call your own.
While you build your strength and endurance with a community of like-minded artists, the intensive format gives you the tools to become independent creators of exciting new physical work.

Outstanding Instructors
Our instructors are led by Artistic Director Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi, a second generation circus performer and Lookingglass Theatre ensemble member.
In 2019, she and her family, The Hernandez Troupe, were inducted into the Circus Ring of Fame for their monumental contributions to the world of circus.

Class Schedule
Mondays – Thursdays
Intensive: 6:15 – 8:15 PMOpen Gym & Act Prep
Fridays: 6:00-9:00 PM
Saturdays: 2:00 – 6:00 PM
Sundays: 1:30 – 4:30 PMTuition: $1,250 (financial aid available)

The program is perfect for dancers, actors, and other physical artists. It’s an excellent bridge for performers at the beginning of their career moving from a recreational to professional setting, or for established professionals looking to deepen their skill set.

Prospective students that have never taken a class at Actors Gym should submit the following information to sylvia@actorsgymnasium.org:

Summer Intensive is refundable in full, minus the $100 deposit, before 4/1/21. After that date, no refunds will be available.
