Take your skills to the next level in this immersive, six week program.
Summer Intensive provides performers the opportunity to work with amazing faculty and committed peers who motivate you to push yourself physically and creatively, while devising original work.
Structure of the Program
During the six weeks, you condition your body to its highest physical levels while working with a cross section of Chicago’s leading circus, dance, and physical theatre instructors to develop new skills. Through this and collaborations with your fellow students, you begin the creative process of choreographing a circus movement piece to call your own.
While you build your strength and endurance with a community of like-minded artists, the intensive format gives you the tools to become independent creators of exciting new physical work.
At the end of this artistic, physical “boot camp” you’ll present your newly created act to the public in a weekend of performances.
Who Should Take Intensive?
Perfect for dancers, actors, and other artists intent on a career in physical performance. An excellent bridge for performers at the beginning of their career moving from a recreational to professional setting. The Actors Gymnasium emphasizes a physical approach to character creation and storytelling.
